Married over a half century 
Thirteen didn't seem to play an unlucky part in the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Maddox, of Campbell County, Kentucky.  They were married on the 13th day of June, 1848, nearly 55 years ago.  Mr. Maddox was born in Campbell County,  Dec. 20, 1811, and his wife on June 3, 1824, in an adjoining county.  They have nine children--five sons and four daughters; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  For 54 years they have resided in the same house and are in good health.  Mr. Maddox made two trips to Missouri on horseback, long before there were railroads. 
C. Burchert contributes a 1903 newspaper clipping from her husband's grandmother about Charles Maddox (1811-1905), son of Hezekiah Maddox.
